Bruce Cohen American, b. 1953

Bruce Cohen (b. 1953, Santa Monica, CA) is known for engaging his viewers with intriguing interiors in his distinctive, crisp, realist style. Influenced by Dutch still-life painting and Surrealism he orchestrates compositions which include fruit, books, vases and always flowers from his garden. These items are placed in geometric interiors devoid of human beings but haunted by a human presence.

Born in Santa Monica, California in 1953, Cohen continues to live and work in Southern California. He earned his BA from the College of Creative Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1975. Cohen is represented in numerous public and private collections, including that of Phillip Morris, New York; Pacific Bell, Los Angeles; the San Diego Museum of Art; and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.
