This was Caio Fonseca's fourth solo exhibition at John Berggruen Gallery. Fonseca continued his exploration of the play between proportion, scale, rhythm and tone in these luminous and lyrical abstract works. Although Fonseca's works are purely abstract and he is sure to state that his images are not symbols and are not representational, his works do reflect his great love of Baroque music with whimsical glyphs that dance across his densely textured and translucent surfaces with an intriguing sense of balance, harmony and composition.
