Biography

 

Bo Bartlett's work represents a uniquely contemporary American landscape. His figurative style often depicts several of his own family members. 

 

Bo Bartlett, born in Columbus, Georgia, began his studies in art by privately studying under several established artists.  In 1974, Bartlett went to Florence, Italy to study with Ben Long IV (a student of Italian Fresco painter Pietro Annigoni).  He later moved to Boston to study with Ives Gammel, and to New York to study with Aaron Shikler and Harvey Dinnerstein.  Following these intensive private studies, Bartlett applied to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts where he received his certificate of fine art.  Then from 1977-78 Bartlett studied anatomy at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Bartlett has received the William Emlen Cresson Traveling Scholarship, PAFA, and the Pew Fellowship in the Arts. 

 

Bo Bartlett’s work can be found in several public and private collections including: Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA; Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Santa Barbara, CA; Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, GA; United States Mint, Philadelphia, PA; Academy of Music, Philadelphia, PA, and the Office of the Governor, Harrisburg, PA.
